| FAQs
Is SEE's TEFL certification recognized outside of Thailand?
Yes.
We are licenced and accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education
We are institutional members of the International Association of TEFL based in The UK
For example, 'Shane English Schools' (part of the Saxoncourt Group) is one of
the largest
employers of teachers in Taiwan, China and Japan. They recognize our TEFL
Certification and employ our graduates.
How easy is it to find work in Thailand?
For much of the year in Thailand there are more jobs than teachers. SEE
manages and employs all the foreign teachers at Boromarajonani College of Nursing
Chiang Mai, Wachirawit Kindergarten & Pratom (Primary) School Chiang Mai, and
EFL Learning Centre Chiang Mai. SEE only employs SEE graduates at these schools.
In addition, SEE uses its knowledge of, and connections with, Thai
educational institutes to assist our graduates to obtain employment at schools
and universities throughout Thailand.
Do I need to be able to speak Thai?
Most people you meet in the city will know a few English words.
SEE provides a Thai-language survival course during training
so that communication is easier. All SEE’s Programme participants
receive a free self-study language pack during their training to enable
further language development.
What are the schools like?
There is a range of educational institutes in Thailand. From temple
schools in small villages, miles from any city, to private schools
only open to the elite. Within Chiang Mai there are government and
private schools, as well as colleges (7), universities(4) and language schools(25).
What is SEE's accommodation like?
Participants who opt for SEE's accommodation will stay in the Mitrapap Hotel.
The hotel is located within the Chinatown area of Chiang Mai and is only a short walk from SEE
and the night market. Each participant will stay 30 nights in their own fan-cooled twin room (no sharing).
Rooms are cleaned by the hotel and there is a regualr change of bedding. Each room has a TV and an attached
bathroom with a hot-water shower.
Will I need any vaccinations before I arrive?
There are no special health requirements for Thailand.
What are healthcare facilities like in North Thailand?
Hospitals, dentists and doctors are plentiful. Many medical professionals
have graduated from western universities and speak English. Some
hospitals have facilities which are a match for many western hospitals.
How easy is it to travel around this part of the world
by public transport?
It is simple and cheap.
What are the dangers and annoyances living and working
in Chiang Mai/Thailand?
Thai people are very gentle and easy-going. Most people are Buddhist
and non-violence is emphasized through their education and culture;
violent crime towards foreigners is nearly non-existent. There is
an active Muslim separatist movement in the far south of the country,
however the activities of the separatists are contained within the
provinces bordering Malaysia, which is about 1000 km from the north
of the country. Common sense and caution will ensure participants
have no negative experiences. |
